Giving thanks for another day, another sunrise, another chance to make sense of it all.

Lots to catch up on--not in chronological order

On Thursday I got a call from a friend of mine, Stephanie Brower, who is UCSB's associated students president. She had been asked to introduce Hillary Clinton during Clinton's surprise campaign stop at UCSB. Stephanie asked me to go with her to be her photographer, and Tania graciously took over some hosting duties for me back at home. It was a good night, and I learned some things about photoshoots--when you're about to go backstage, DON'T ask if you can go backstage...although in this situation, the bouncers had guns, being secret service agents, so perhaps asking was the right thing to do. Hillary had some good points, it was great to meet her, it was great to see the students so involved, and I got some good pictures.

they're getting bigger!

ridiculously cute...even more to come. This will temporarily be the all-kitten blog for a while. I'm so kitten-drunk. Even when Brie wakes me up at 5am stabbing me with her bristley little tongue for my early-morning exfoliation (wait, wait, there's a spot right there on your eyelid...and your nose...). Melting!
And a happy, happy birthday to me mum, whom I love more than 200 kittens!

more pics of the kitties! I hear that my nephew Caleb has been checking for new ones, luckily, I take a lot. They have a tendency to fall asleep on one, preventing one from accomplishing much for hours at a time...

new kittens in the house! we had the option of getting 4, but Pema & Tania's common sense prevailed over my kitten-fever (and later, after dealing w/ kitty litter again, I too felt that it was the right choice to only get two). They are little sisters (did you know that kitties from the same litter can have different dads?) They don't have names yet--we're taking suggestions...

Halloween 2007 with Caleb

Went to Arkansas to visit Ali, Joel & Caleb for Halloween. Caleb played guitar for us, and we also got to catch one of his gigs at the Whistle Stop Cafe, where we also had fried catfish. Caleb was an elephant for Halloween. And we took him crystal mining, where he enjoyed digging in the dirt, and where I unearthed the biggest crystal cluster I've ever found. Totally great trip, left me wanting more Caleb, more crystals, more sweet tea, and more guitar performances.
